Kids Adventure Fishing DayThe Brisbane Sportfishing Club (BSFC) will be hosting a Kids Fishing Day. Twenty kids will be given the chance to attend a day to learn to fish for the future, to practice conservation of the Fishery so it can last into the future. Kids can enter a competition to win a chance to attend this great fun day. Twenty lucky kids will be chosen to be taught the basics of rigging and knot tying, baiting, casting, handling and releasing fish. Attending Kids don’t need any previous knowledge – just a keen interest to learn. The successful kids will also be educated in sustainable fishing practices, fishing regulations, successful handling and releasing techniques, along with environmental and conservation responsibilities. Accredited Trainers will provide expert tuition along with the chance to put it all into action with an actual fishing session under close supervision once the learning session has been completed. This Free kids educational day is a product of a Government grant to the BSFC through Sunfish, which is Queensland’s peak recreational fishing group. Government funds are going to teach Kids how to go fishing successfully and responsibly. The Brisbane Sportfishing Club is a local, not for profit organisation, with a keen interest in fishing. The Club’s motto is “Sport, Conservation and Integrity” The Club meets regularly to exchange knowledge and to go on fishing trips. The KFD will be held on Sunday the 1st of March starting at 7.30am and will include a BBQ lunch and some “give-aways” for the 20 fortunate Kids. The location will be Darling Point at Wynnum and will run for most of the day. Parents can attend to observe if they wish to or drop their Child off and return later to pick-up. All interested Parents and/or Children (girls & boys) aged between 8 and 14 are encouraged to fill in the online registration form by Sunday 6th of May to enter the Competition, where they will have to provide a little background information and why they would like to attend the KFD.
