We generally have one Club trip each month to a known ‘hot spot’ to fish for a species ‘in season.’ Of course, many of our members also fish outside of organised Club trips. Typical Club trips include:
- Barra at Awoonga
- Threadfin salmon in the Brisbane River
- Snapper off Cape Moreton
- Flathead at Jumpinpin
- Mackeral and Trevally on the wrecks off Bundaberg
- Billfish and Wahoo off the Gold Coast
The current schedule of Club trips is listed in our latest newsletter. Club members who do not own a boat are usually able to crew on another member’s boat, whether that be a 19’ Haines or a 12’ tinny. By participating in Club trips, you will learn many different fishing hotspots up and down the coast and when and how to fish them.
Many of our club members are dedicated anglers who have been fishing for many years. Some have participated and won prizes in major local fishing competitions and together we hold many National and Queensland sportfishing records. This knowledge is regularly shared with other less experienced members, either one-to-one on a fishing trip or verbally at a Club meeting.
