Trophies

The club has a wide range of trophies that are fished for over the fishing year (1 July to 30 June). You can qualify for these trophies any time you are fishing during the year, all you need to do is put in a Notification of Capture to the recorder and you are in the running. As a rule one fish can only take one trophy unless the second is a species or method specific trophy. The perpetual trophies are marked with an *. The management committee has revised and updated the annual trophy list to better suit the current membership. Some other trophies have been removed or consolidated. These trophies apply to financial members only.

    The Following Trophies will be awarded for 2008-2009:

    1. Highest Scoring Fish – senior offshore
    2. Highest Scoring Fish – senior inshore
    3. Highest Scoring Fish – junior or sub junior offshore
    4. Highest Scoring Fish – junior or sub junior inshore
    5. Most meritorious capture
    6. Club Champion
    7. *Tagging offshore
    8. *Tagging inshore
    9. Fish of the Year
    10. Fish of the Month for each month
    11. Highest Scoring Fish Division 2 or 3 (Lure casting / Fly fishing)
    12. *Billfish Trophy
    (for the largest number of billfish captured or tagged)
    13. *High Scoring Bass
    14. *Phil Brooks heaviest Mangrove Jack
    (Phill Brookes was a past president of the club whose ashes now lie in the waters around Cardwell where he loved to lurecast for jacks)
    15. *Newsletter Trophy
    (awarded by the editor to the person that provides the most towards the newsletter during the year)
    16. *Presidents Trophy
    (awarded by the President to a member that has made a significant contribution to the club during the year)
    17. Navigation award
    (for the most noteworthy grounding of a boat that comes to the committee's attention)or NACA
    18. Swimming Trophy
    (for the most noteworthy unplanned dip in the water that comes to the committee's attention) or NAFA

Points for Club Champion will be calculated as follows:
An anglers 5 top point scoring fish for the year, maximium of one of each species. Fish can be caught in or out of competition. All captures must be reported to the club recorder with in 30 days of capture.
